Acyclovir is an acyclic guanine nucleoside analog which inhibits the viral DNA polymerase. It is active against Herpes simplex virus-1 & 2, Ebstein Barr virus, Cytomegalovirus and Varicella zoster virus infections. (1)

Management of initial genital herpes. Non-life-threatening mucocutaneous Herpes simplex virus infections in immunocompromised patients. (2)

Hypersensitivity to the drug or any constituents of the formulation (2)

Mild pain (including transient burning and stinging) Local pruritus, rash Edema and/or pain at the application site. (2)

Safety and efficacy is not established in pediatric patients. (2)

Apply sufficient quantity to adequately cover all lesions every 3 hours, 6 times per day for 7 days. (2)
